Creative Writing

Fall 2018 Creative Writing Class

Ages: Young Adult to Adult  *Contact Us to find out if you are eligible*

Tuition: $169.00

Class Date/ Time: Wednesdays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm 9/19-11/7

Location: 61 E. Main Street – The Academy Building, Clinton CT

Description: Young adults and adults can explore their ability to create deep, enthralling characters and plots in this new opportunity to brainstorm with other young adults and adults. Students will learn how to craft stories by understanding dynamic character development, plot structure and formation, setting and descriptive language, and dialogue creation. Students will work collaboratively in small groups or as a class to write a skit. Taught by author/poet Margaret McNellis and MFA candidate and owner of Literature Lessons. If you’ve ever wanted to try out writing this is a perfect place to jump into the creative writing world.

Cross Cultural Dance

Description: A class designed for the beginner to intermediate dancer or person looking to get exercise while also exploring different styles of dance from around the globe. Fast-paced fun, participants will learn a different style of dance each week.

Class Date/ Time: Fridays, 4:30pm – 5:15pm & 5:30pm – 6:15pm 9/21-11/9

Location: 61 E. Main Street – The Academy Building, Clinton CT

Description: A fun workout for young adults to parents who love dancing and looking for a great way to work out. Perfect for the parent waiting for their child in Friday Night Live Improv Classes.  Get in the groove and in shape all in one great class. All skill levels welcome!

Advanced Musical Theater Production:

This program is strictly limited in size offering a full length musical production with enhanced technique work for the serious performer. Audition required.

Once on This Island

2018 Fall Advanced Musical Theater Production: Once on This Island

Ages: Young Adult to Adult (minimum of 13 years old)

Auditions: Tuesday, September 11th 7:00pm – 8:30pm & Thursday, September 13th 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Audition Location: 61 East Main St., Clinton, CT in our Academy Building

Rehearsals: Every Saturday from 2:30 – 5:00pm (additional rehearsals as needed at the discretion of the director)

Tuition: $99.00/ month for 3 months (Total of $297.00)

Performance Date: December 7th – 9th, 2018

Performance Location: 61 E. Main Street at the Academy Building – Intimate theater experience

**Note: This is an advanced level production class. You MUST commit at the time of the audition regardless of the role received. A $99.00 non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of the audition to secure your spot in this highly intensive, extremely popular program. Limited Cast size. Cuts may be made.

2018 Annual Graveyard Walk

2018 Annual Graveyard Walk

Ages: Young Adult to Adult *Contact Us to find out if you are eligible for this program*

Auditions: There are no auditions for this program. Actors will be given roles based on age, skill level, group dynamic, and personal preference. There are a number of short scenes involving characters based on historical figures that we rotate through each year. The director and actors will work together to determine what scenes and parts each actor wants to work on. There may be opportunities to write a new, original scene if an actor is interested.

Rehearsals: This program has a flexible and relaxed rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals will be determined by the cast and director based on schedules after the registration period is over.

Tuition: This program is free to participate in. This program focuses on the importance of community partnerships and providing the Connecticut Shoreline residents with free, educational, family-friendly programming.

Performance Date: Tuesday, October 23rd and Wednesday, October 24th

Performance Location: TBA

Tickets: This event is free to the public.

Description: Every year, the professional actors in our Shoreline Actors Collective branch of Kidz Konnection perform a number of eerie historical scenes at the Clinton Graveyard. This is a free program for the interested performer. This is a fun, low stress environment to enjoy some acting and character development in an outdoor performance setting. Please contact us to be involved in this program.
