Advanced Acting Troupe: Diary of Anne Frank

Each season, a group of students serious about honing their acting skills may participate in a dramatic play.  Play is determined seasonally, and may include thought-provoking discussion and analysis of the material, era, and socially conscious debate.

The 2021/22 Season includes Diary of Anne Frank, A View From a Bridge, The Laramie Project 10 Years Later.

Pre-screening/audition required.  Parental discretion advised prior to registration as mature content may be performed.  Please email kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com for an audition/interview.

Advanced Musical Theater: Billy Elliott the Musical

Advanced Level Musical Theater Program is specifically designed for the young adult with a serious interest in performing. The program teaches rigorous, challenging performance skills in voice, dance and acting through rehearsals for a mature musical experience. Rehearsals every Saturday from 10 – 12:30pm from 9/18 until 12/4.  Tech Week is a mandatory rehearsal week from 12/4 thru 12/8. Auditions required.  This is an advanced level program and as such may contain mature content requiring all actors under 18 a parent permission form and a $100.00 non-refundable deposit to secure a place before auditions.  This program is first come, first serve until all spots are filled.

Fall Mainstage: The Wizard of Oz, the Musical

The Fall Mainstage Productions offer the young performer opportunities to perform in a large cast experience on a big stage regardless of age.  Rehearsals are tailored to the child’s current age/grade level and become more rigorous and challenging as the child ages.  Students may choose between a Tuesday or Thursday rehearsal option for most roles.  Major Lead and Supporting Leading roles may require 2 day rehearsals and will be determined at casting.  Students unable to make longer rehearsal commitments may continue to perform in the mainstage but may be limited in type of role offered. Every student, regardless of skill level, will receive a role. A $50 non-refundable security deposit is required to secure a spot prior to casting.

Fall Classes

Classes begin the week of September 7th and run through the week of October 29th All productions follow a different rehearsal schedule. See individual shows for exact times. 

Classes will be held outside on the Academy lawn whenever possible. In the event our Academy is forced to shut down due to Pandemic related concerns and guidelines, classes will move remotely.  There is no guarantee productions will happen for a live audience.  Class tuition is based on skills learned by instructors not final production events.  Thank you ~

Wizard of Oz Rehearsals

For Tuesday group times based on grade level. See below for your age range.

Tiny Thespians

A weekly class that gives young gives children who are new to performing an opportunity toperform in our Fall Mainstage Production, The Wizard of Oz, in a more intimate setting. Students will be given at least two scenes and/or dances with the larger cast  within the show that they work on during class time. They perform their scenes during theperformance of the Fall Show and participate in all full cast activities including tech week.No audition necessary for this group.

Junior Thespians

8 weeks of instruction for young emerging performers. Students will receive ensemble roles in the larger cast, learning at least 2 dance numbers and working on 1 scene  to participate in with the larger cast, culminating in a full mainstage performance at the  Clinton Town Hall the first weekend of November. No audition necessary for this level.

Beginner Intermediate Thespians

8 weeks of instruction for young emerging performers culminating in a full mainstage performance at the Clinton Town Hall the first weekend in November. Audition Required. Everyone will receive a role regardless of experience with acting.  Contact kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com to reserve an audition.

Fight Choreography/Slapstick Comedy

A fun and energetic 8-week class for students looking to learn or improve their ability to perform choreographed fights on stage. In this class, students will learn the basics of physical stage-fighting using fake weapons and their bodies. Students will explore everything from slap-stick humor to fully choreographed sword-fights.

Tap/Jazz Combo for the Tween & Teen Beginner

A traditional 8-week class for students looking to improve their dance skills. Many young people discover theater over time and once bit by the bug realize they are missing essential dance skills to get top roles in high school theater or professionally.  This class is designed to teach the older actor the critical basics to tap dancing in an age-friendly environment.  This high energy, full of fun moves class will have you tapping with confidence at auditions in no time!

Advanced Tap

All students who wish to participate in this class must be evaluated by our head dance teacher/choreographer, Maria Lonetti. This class is for advanced level performers who have prior experience with dance and/or theater.

Little Play Makers

A fun drama class designed specifically for children who are in grades 1/2. Children learn to use their imaginations in a fun and cooperative environment to encourage kindness and positive social skills while discovering a love for the performing arts.

Junior Madcappers

This once-a-week drama class incorporates improvisation games and drama activities into a fun and cooperative experience. A perfect class for any child interested in exploring the performing arts in a free, imaginative setting.

Comedy Center

A traditional improvisation and comic theater 8-week class for older students looking for a class to explore comedy and improvisation. Students work separately (grades 6 – 8 & grades 9 – 12) and together to develop comic skits and routines appropriate for each age level.
