The Spring 2022 class schedule begins the week of March 28th. Classes will run 8 weeks. No classes will run April 18-April 22.

MONDAYS:

The Rude Mechanicals

Ever wanted to try Shakespeare? A little nervous about tackling the classics? Well have no fear because we have a class for you. Join us as we explore Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Nights Dream, in it’s abridged format. In this 8 week long class students will work on the 30 minute long production of the play and at the end have a small in class performance for family and friends the last day of class. This slapstick comedy is guaranteed to hook you on Shakespeare if you haven’t already found your love it.

Grades: 5-8 | Tuition: $185.00 | Class Time: Mondays at 4:30pm – 5:30pm | Location: The Academy Building

 

The Laramie Project – 10 Years Later

In The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later, the troupe revisits the town a decade after the tragedy, finding a community grappling with its legacy and its place in history. The two plays together comprise an epic and deeply moving theatrical cycle that explores the life of an American town over the course a decade.

Grades: 7 and up | Tuition: $225.00 | Class Time: Mondays 6:00pm – 7:30 pm | Location: At the Academy l Show Dates: May 20th, 7:30pm (possible additional show dates maybe added) l Auditions: March 29th and 31st from 7- 8pm.

Lion King, Kids

Disney’s The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, your young actor can be a part of this amazing show. The African savannah comes to life on your stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

Grades: k-4 | Tuition: $205 | Class Time: 1 day a week rehearsal. Tuesdays or Thursday at 4:30 – 5:30pm | Location: On the Lawn at 61 E. Main Street – The Academy Building, Clinton CT | Show Dates:June 3rd 6:00 pm and 7:00  (Pending double casting)

 

 

Lion King, Jr

The Lion King JR. tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King JR. features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award®-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.

WEDNESDAYS:

Fight Choreography/Slapstick Comedy

A fun and energetic 8-week class for students looking to learn or improve their ability to perform choreographed fights on stage. In this class, students will learn the basics of physical stage-fighting using fake weapons and their bodies. Students will explore everything from slap-stick humor to fully choreographed sword-fights.

Tap/Jazz Combo for the Tween & Teen Beginner

A traditional 8-week class for students looking to improve their dance skills. Many young people discover theater over time and once bit by the bug realize they are missing essential dance skills to get top roles in high school theater or professionally.  This class is designed to teach the older actor the critical basics to tap dancing in an age-friendly environment.  This high energy, full of fun moves class will have you tapping with confidence at auditions in no time!Grades: 5 and Up | Tuition : $177.00 | Class Time: Wednesdays 6:00 – 6:45pm | Location: On the Lawn at 61 E. Advanced Tap

All students who wish to participate in this class must be evaluated by our head dance teacher/ choreographer, Maria Lonetti. This class is for advanced level performers who have prior experience with dance and/ or theater.

FRIDAYS:

Little Playmakers

This once-a-week improvisation class is perfect for the ham of your house who loves to create original material and imagine freely. In this 8 week class, kids play plenty of fun drama games and activities to explore creativity while developing an original skit to perform for family and friends.

Grades: 1-2 | Tuition: $177.00 | Class Time: Fridays, 4:30pm – 5:15pm | Location: 61 E. Main Street – The Academy Building, Clinton CT

 

Junior Madcappers

This Saturday Night Live-esque 8-week class is perfect for every class clown or budding actor looking to gain more confidence. Students work separately and together to develop comic skits and routines appropriate for each age level. Great for any performer interested in stand-up comedy or improvisational acting. Note: There are no exceptions to grade level placement for this program.

Comedy Center

A traditional 8-week class for older students looking for an opportunity to study more serious improvisational techniques without sacrificing the more fun and creative aspects of improv and comedy. This Saturday Night Live-esque class is perfect for every class clown or budding actor looking to gain more confidence. Students work separately and together to develop comic skits and routines appropriate for each age level. Great for any performer interested in stand-up comedy or improvisational acting. This class is a part of the Advanced Acting Trio Class Series. NOTE: This class will be taught fully in-person outside on the front lawn of the Academy building.

Advanced Musical: West Side Story

From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. With additional resources for students and directors, West Side Story School Edition makes the iconic musical more accessible and meaningful for high school performers.

Arthur Laurents’ book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever; the score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim are still widely regarded as among the best ever written; and Jerome Robbins’ choreography endures as one of the most innovative and inventive applications of the medium.

*Lion King Jr and Kids subject to change to one day a week due to low enrollment. Day will be based on the most popular day of the two offered. If you are unable to make the change  a full refund will be made. This will only happen if enrollment is low.
