2022

Advanced Dramatic Theater Production:

Each season, a group of students serious about honing their acting skills may participate in a dramatic play.  Play is determined seasonally, and may include thought-provoking discussion and analysis of the material, era, and socially conscious debate.

The 2022/23Season includes: The Miracle Worker, Arsenic and Old Lace, Grimms Spectacularthon. Pre-screening/audition required.  Parental discretion advised prior to registration as mature content may be performed.  Please email kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com for an audition/interview.

Fall Mainstage Musical, MARY POPPINS:

The Fall Mainstage Productions offer the young performer opportunities to perform in a large cast experience on a big stage regardless of age.  Rehearsals are tailored to the child’s current age/grade level and become more rigorous and challenging as the child ages.  Students may choose between a Tuesday or Thursday rehearsal option for most roles.  Major Lead and Supporting Leading roles may require 2 day rehearsals and will be determined at casting.  Students unable to make longer rehearsal commitments may continue to perform in the mainstage but may be limited in type of role offered. Every student, regardless of skill level, will receive a role. A $50 non-refundable security deposit is required to secure a spot prior to casting.

Advanced Musical Theater Production: LES MISERABLES (Tentative Show)

Advanced Musical Theater:

Advanced Level Musical Theater Program is specifically designed for the young adult with a serious interest in performing. The program teaches rigorous, challenging performance skills in voice, dance and acting through rehearsals for a mature musical experience. Rehearsals every Saturday from 10 – 12:30pm.  Tech Week is a mandatory rehearsal week . Auditions required.  This is an advanced level program and as such may contain mature content requiring all actors under 18 a parent permission form and a $100.00 non-refundable deposit to secure a place before auditions.  This program is first come, first serve until all spots are filled.

Miss Casted Cabaret (Grades 5 & up) 

As actors we always face the same old story. That there are always roles in which you will never, never, never be cast – you are the wrong gender, too old, too short, too blonde or just wrong. You’re cast as a Maria in West Side Story but you want to sing as Tony or You would love to perform the song Popular but your stuck in Dancing Through Life land. In this musical revue, Broadway’s greatest musicals meet Broadway’s greatest satirist in this hilarious, loving, and endlessly entertaining tribute to some of the theatre’s greatest stars and songwriters. Where you are not  the wrong gender, too old, too short, too blonde or just wrong for any role you bring in to workshop.

Musical Theater Mainstage Rehearsals for all age levels.

Tiny Thespians *Choose Tuesday or Thursday (Grades K/1)

A weekly class that gives young gives children who are new to performing an opportunity toperform in our Fall Mainstage Production,  in a more intimate setting. Students will be given at least two scenes and/or dances with the larger cast within the show that they work on during class time. They perform their scenes during theperformance of the Fall Show and participate in all full cast activities including tech week.No audition necessary for this group.

Junior Thespians *Choose Tuesday or Thursday (Grades 2/3)

8 weeks of instruction for young emerging performers. Students will receive ensemble roles in the larger cast, learning at least 2 dance numbers and working on 1 scene to participate in with the larger cast, culminating in a full mainstage performance at the  Clinton Town Hall the third weekend of November. No audition necessary for this level.

Beginner/Intermediate Thespians *Choose Tuesday or Thursday  (Grades 4/5)

WEDNESDAYS:

Beginner Fight Choreography/Slapstick Comedy

A fun and energetic 6-week class for students looking to learn or improve their ability to perform choreographed fights on stage. In this class, students will learn the basics of physical stage-fighting using fake weapons and their bodies. Students will explore everything from slap-stick humor to fully choreographed sword-fights.

Intermediate/Advanced Fight Choreography

This class is a continuation of our beginner program. Students will begin focusing on the more technical fight choreography. Including throwing and stunting. Any student that signs up for this class must first be okayed by our fight choreography instructor.

Tap/Jazz Combo for the Tween & Teen Beginner

A traditional 6-week class for students looking to improve their dance skills. Many young people discover theater over time and once bit by the bug realize they are missing essential dance skills to get top roles in high school theater or professionally.  This class is designed to teach the older actor the critical basics to tap dancing in an age-friendly environment.  This high energy, full of fun moves class will have you tapping with confidence at auditions in no time!

New class: Ballet Contemporary Fusion Intensive 

This Ballet focused class will explore ballet technique and form while  diving into different ways of combining modern, contemporary and ballet vocabularies into a challenging but fun combination. It shows each dancer how to keep the integrity of their technique while utilizing it in the most effective way possible. The class also explores ways to increase one’s artistic capacity through inspiration by movement, music, and philosophy.

The class is recommended for any beginning/intermediate or advanced dancer

Advanced Tap

All students who wish to participate in this class must be evaluated by our head dance teacher/choreographer, Maria Lonetti. This class is for advanced level performers who have prior experience with dance and/or theater.

Little Play Makers

A fun drama class designed specifically for children who are in grades 1/2. Children learn to use their imaginations in a fun and cooperative environment to encourage kindness and positive social skills while discovering a love for the performing arts.

Junior Madcappers

This once-a-week drama class incorporates improvisation games and drama activities into a fun and cooperative experience. A perfect class for any child interested in exploring the performing arts in a free, imaginative setting.

Comedy Center

A traditional improvisation and comic theater 8-week class for older students looking for a class to explore comedy and improvisation. Students work separately (grades 6 – 8 & grades 9 – 12) and together to develop comic skits and routines appropriate for each age level.

*7th and 8th graders must be currently enrolled students. A limited number of 7/8th grade students area accepted into this program. To be considered students must already be signed up for a Mainstage production/Jr Musical or Advanced Play running congruent to the advanced musical they wish to register for. All 7th/8th grade students must contact kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com before registering for this production.

**9th graders are required to be enrolled in at least 2 classes during the same season or one of the productions running congruent to the Advanced Level Musical program (The Advanced Play or Mainstage musical).

**Actors are only permitted to miss 3  rehearsals, must be available for all of tech week and all performances. Any breach of this will mean immediate dismissal from the show with out refund. No exceptions will be made.
