Fall Classes 2023

Classes run in 6 week sessions from 9/11 until 10/20. (*Classes are subject to rescheduling in the event conflicts are unavoidable) All production rehearsals run through the show dates of the specific show. Tech week rehearsals generally occur daily and are the final week of each production scheduled. Tech week rehearsals scheduled are mandatory. You are urged to check and clear any potential personal conflicts NOW for any of the shows you are interested in participating. No Rehearsal October 12th or 17th

All auditions for the fall production season are 9/12 and 9/14 in 30 minute increments. Reservation required for all 4th grade and up participants. Everyone receives a role.

MONDAYS:

Fairytale Theater presents Beauty & the Beast – A fairy tale adventure 9/11 – 11/13/23.

Join us for our Fairytale Theater acting group. Each season we will perform a 30 minute production of a beloved fairytale with just our littlest thespians to be performed on the Town Hall Stage for Saturday, November 18 at 11:00am. Students will all receive a speaking role they can be successful with based on our initial first class. No auditions for this program. Guaranteed to bring a smile to any young performers face. (no classes Indigenous People Day or October 16) Students will also be subject to a nominal costume fee and supplying own undergarments TBD during rehearsals.

Advanced Dramatic Theater:

TUESDAYS:

Junior Thespians (Tuesday or Thursday)

Great for young emerging performers. Students will receive ensemble roles in the larger cast, learning at least 2 dance numbers and working on 1 scene  to participate in with the larger cast, culminating in a full mainstage performance at the  Clinton Town Hall the third weekend of November. No audition necessary for this level.

Beginner Intermediate Thespians (Tuesday or Thursday)

Fantastic instruction for young emerging performers culminating in a full mainstage performance at the Clinton Town Hall the third weekend in November. Audition Required. Everyone will receive a role regardless of experience with acting.  Contact kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com to reserve an audition.

Intermediate/Advanced Thespians

Perfect instruction in dance, acting and voice for youth interested in performance  culminating in the fall mainstage musical, Mary Poppins, on the Town Hall Stage the third weekend in November. WEDNESDAYS:

Haunted Spirits of Clinton (Grades 7 and up)

This program is for the young thespian who loves ghosts/ghouls and spirits of the past.  Students also discover the joy of community service as we rehearse historical skits for one of Clinton’s most popular events, the annual Haunted Spirits Lantern Stroll. Students will be cast in simple 10 minute skits to perform while dressed in character at the Indian River Cemetery for nightly tours of the historic cemetery and it’s more famous inhabitants from Clinton’s rich past.  This is an entirely free program but you MUST contact kidzkonnectionct@gmail.com to be considered.

Tap/Jazz Combo for the Tween & Teen Beginner (Grades 5 and up)

A traditional 6-week class for students looking to improve their dance skills. Many young people discover theater over time and once bit by the bug realize they are missing essential dance skills to get top roles in high school theater or professionally.  This class is designed to teach the older actor the critical basics to tap dancing in an age-friendly environment.  This high energy, full of fun moves class will have you tapping with confidence at auditions in no time!

New class: Ballet Contemporary Fusion Intensive (Grades 5 and up)

This Ballet focused class will explore ballet technique and form while  diving into different ways of combining modern, contemporary and ballet vocabularies into a challenging but fun combination. It shows each dancer how to keep the integrity of their technique while utilizing it in the most effective way possible. The class also explores ways to increase one’s artistic capacity through inspiration by movement, music, and philosophy.

The class is recommended for any beginning/intermediate or advanced dancer

Advanced Tap (Pre-Screening required)

All students who wish to participate in this class must be evaluated by our head dance teacher/choreographer, Maria Teresa Lonetti. This class is for advanced level performers who have prior experience with dance and/or theater.

Little Play Makers

A fun drama class designed specifically for children who are in grades 1/2. Children learn to use their imaginations in a fun and cooperative environment to encourage kindness and positive social skills while discovering a love for the performing arts.

Junior Madcappers

This once-a-week drama class incorporates improvisation games and drama activities into a fun and cooperative experience. A perfect class for any child interested in exploring the performing arts in a free, imaginative setting.

Comedy Central

A traditional 8-week class for older students looking for a class to explore comedy and improvisation. Students work separately and together to develop comic skits and routines appropriate for each age level.

Advanced Musical

Grades 10 to 18 years of age

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a “Revenge Party” to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

*8th graders must be currently enrolled students, and also be signed up for one of the Mainstage /Advanced Play  running congruent to the advanced musical they are wanting to participate in

**9th graders must be signed up for either the Fall mainstage production, the advanced play or two spring classes running at the Academy

***Actors are only permitted to miss 2 rehearsals, must be available for all of tech week and all performances. Any breach of this will mean immediate dismissal from the show without refund. No exceptions will be made

The Advanced Musical Theater program is a program designed for our most senior performers. These performers are considered our most advanced actors due to their years of theater experience and training. These requirements have been put in place to ensure that our younger performers gain the experience needed to be considered one of our advanced performers. A volunteer option is available for those for performers that unable to complete the list requirements. Students will also need to give a detailed explanation to the best of their ability why they are unable to meet the performance/class requirement. Then it will be submitted to the board for approval.
